Nests in the field

A selection of photos of bird nests in hayfields, pastures, and fallow fields. All photos were taken by Bird Ecology and Conservation Ontario staff between 2016 and 2019.

Other farmland birds and wildlife

Many of the farms we’ve conducted grassland bird research on include a patchwork of hayfields, pastures, hedgerows, forests, and wetlands, providing habitat for an impressive variety of bird species and other wildlife. This gallery contains a selection of photos of birds and wildlife taken on the farms where we’ve worked.

Video gallery

Most of our grassland research projects have focused on Bobolink. This video gallery contains four short Bobolink videos that provide information on behaviour and population declines, and a short video of a female Grasshopper Sparrow returning to her nest in a grazed pasture as a Chipping Sparrow and Field Sparrow sing in the background.
